The Clock

I recently completed a three to four week study of René Magritte’s Key to Dreams. In the painting, Magritte focuses on just the object over a pure black background and then writes a noun that doesn’t resemble the object but resembles a look-alike or something similar. For example, in the bottom left corner of the painting, he focuses on a white jug. The noun underneath the object doesn’t say ‘The Jug’ but instead says ‘The Bird’.

In my study, I chose a half sovereign and a 40s Readheads matchstick box with Polish stamps inside. I named my painting ‘The Clock’
